That much belly shouldn’t be exposed to the sun, or human view.

I agree. If you don’t swim, surf, or pickup girls, the beach is a waste.

The smell of the air, the sound of the waves and seagulls, the laughter of children, and all the things @Ken Otwell mentions above.

I love wading in the waves but when I am done I also enjoy the sounds! The waves, the birds the laughter and chit chat all seems so happy. I think my sweetheart is there to watch the “babes”

    I love the beach

I was raised in northern New England….

Here’s how a day at the beach goes along the southern Maine coast.

    95F air temp.

    Sand temp 1000F.

    Water temp in August 57F.

Run across the lava field and dive / jump into the water. Wait 5 minutes to catch your breath and spend another 20 minutes wondering when you had a sex change.

Run back across the lava field to the towel island and beach chair to have sand fried chicken and 80 grit potato salad.

Pack up the car and go home so you can take a shower to get the salt off and rinse the sand out of your butt even though your butt never actually touched the lava field.

Oh yeah. I love the beach. /snark/

Breeze, sun, sky, water, warm sand between the toes.

As a kid we would go and stay in a bungalow at “the beach” for the summer – maternal grandparents and uncle in the next bungalow. The beach was a subway ride from our apartment, but we did this yearly until we moved to the suburbs.

Now would not go to the beach. It is sandy and a lot of work in packing to go. I would need to put on sun lotion at least 2 or 3 times and would need to wear a bug band to prevent getting bitten (even to take garbage out or walk to the car from the house). Better to stay in the house whether or not it is cool inside – much safer all around – no burns, no bites no sand, no extra laundry.
