At my local ground, the trees around the ground are full of random people* enjoying the game (and occasionally falling out of them to the general amusement), and it’s considered to just add to the general ambience.
Do they (or did they) really try to block people seeing the game for free in America?
*when the team is winning, at least – when they’re doing badly you could leave the gates open and not have to fear anyone coming in.
