What’s wrong with laying on the floor like that and reading them? I mean, if she’s in the way of foot traffic, she could just move to another part of the floor.
I once got some material from Fred Lasswell (Snuffy Smith’s second artist) encouraging me to “sprawl on yor tummy with yor crayons an’ be a kid again!”
As a kid, I was always sprawled across the floor reading or coloring. Now days, getting down on the floor is the easy part. All I have to do is fall. Its the getting up again…
Back when I was a kid, and my grandmother was watching me while my mom was out, I’d be reading from her library of books in a comfy chair but upside-down, with my head down and my feet up by the headrest. Spent many a day reading through classics like the Complete Sherlock Holmes.
As a kid, Sundays were always special occasions, and we couldn’t wait to spread those delightfully colored comics out on the floor. The irony is that ‘Nancy’ was not published on Sunday which was a disappointment to me back then… and still is. With the growing demise of print newspapers, it is sad that kids will be deprived of that joy.
I wonder whether Nancy is reading about herself in the Funnies. Some comic strip characters do read their own strips within their strips and it would be in character for Nancy.

I used to read the funnies on the floor all the time, growing up! Nothing wrong with that!
