Nancy: I'd like that job.
Voice from inside store: SCRAM
Nancy: Okay---But you don't have to be so nasty---How did I know what that sign meant.
Sign reads: BOUNCER WANTED
We have an old War Department booklet of advice for GIs stationed in Britain in WW2. Part of it is a dictionary that explains things like “Underground” (UK) means “Subway” (US), and *Estates” (UK) often means “Development” (US), but my favorite is that “Bouncer” (US) translates to “Chucker-out”.

Ernie must enjoy 30 degree angles for certain things. I’m only aware of one other strip where the angle shows up.
It’s in the strip where Nancy and Sluggo have trekked downtown to view a new bldg.
Sluggo halls out a pocket mirror and uses it so that the public doesn’t think that he’s a tourist, or something dislikable.
When Sluggo views the mirror, Ernie draws a 30 degree angle by using a pair of linear dashes from Sluggo’s eyes to the mirror.
