Much easier to let Ric in at night. Nothing like falling asleep to the sound of a purring kitten.

Dan should’ve asked Future Amanda! (But I loved Present Amanda’s question).

We had a cat that would scratch at the carpet in front any closed door at night, could never stop her. We left most doors ajar at night and put cardboard under the ones we couldn’t leave open. She didn’t like scratching on the cardboard.

I had a cat who would scratch the underside of the door. It was easier to let him in and sleep on the bed rather than train him to not do that. And somehow calming to let him sleep on top of the covers rather than his yelling and screaming and the sound of the door being pulled at in the middle of the night.

Ahhhh, life with a cat………and, yet, we can’t live without the little darlings!

I like the way Amanda thinks…solve the immediate problem and maybe Dan will magically change his mind and accept the new kitten into the fold.

As a long time cat slave, I have found that tall cat trees covered with carpeting and wood combination helps with the problem. My boys have several in the apartment and they make use of them regularly for scratching, sleeping, and just getting away from each other for awhile. As soon as Ric grows a bit more and Toonce decides he can accept him things will calm down. Until then just hang on for the ride….

Ric needs a bed and a catnip mouse for company. That way, everybody gets some sleep.
