My wife is fond of quoting the comedian who said his marriage of 20 years seemed like just 20 minutes…under water.
One day she was commenting that I left a mess in the kitchen and that she was cleaning it up. I told her if she played her cards right, she would be cleaning up after me for many more years to come.
That’s the day she had to finally admit to herself that she initially set the bar pretty low, that she didn’t marry down, but that I had married up. (Of course I knew that all along.)
Not at all, my boy, not at all. Been married 38 years myself. And I don’t regret one day of it. The one day I don’t regret was… August 2, 1936. She was off visiting her ailing mother at the time. — Judge Blackstone (How To Murder Your Wife)
Great strip today, Brutus; we just had our 40th anniversary, so I had to show this to my wife. And to test her; if she didn’t get it, that would spell trouble :) She thought it was pretty funny.
While amazed by all the fun they obviously have something which keeps them all together. They love and care for each other or they wouldn’t bother. They care about their young fella also.

Communications is the core of a good, successful relationship, especially in a marriage. It’s sad that she asked that question…..

Let’s see: he remembered their anniversary, and said they had a wonderful marriage. It was definitely an up until she decided to zing him!
