I’m not getting the joke at all.

The crime board in shows has the clues linked by pieces of string. This detective can’t link his clues because his string was stolen. Cue the canned laughter.

String theory?

String him up!

(We have no string)

Then lynch him!

(sorry we’re out of lynch)

Someone stole all of the toilets from the police station… The police have nothing to go on.

The suspects are just stringing you along!

They are all inner- twined….maybe if we find a tangle some where….

Trying to pull the wool over your eyes

At the trial, the judge said “The prosecution is trying to spin quite a yarn here, but the emperor has no clothes” and dismissed the case for lack of evidence.

Time for the Rope-A-Dope.

Their case hangs by a thread.

Check with the cat burglar.
