I have a label on a blanket that is so thread-worn… the threads keep getting unraveled and become lost… each time the cat lays on it! Police aren’t gonna catch me removing the tags! (Smirk!)
Illegal abuses of power by law enforcement seems to be getting more and more common. Remember COINTEL PRO when the FBI sent agents into left-leaning groups to commit violence to discredit those organizations and manufacture excuses to attack them? This year cops have been caught doing to the same to BLM groups.
I read about a law school professor who points out to his classes that any time you make an activity criminal you must assume that somebody is going to die for it. When too much chickens**t stuff like selling individual cigarettes is a criminal act, you make it harder and harder for the police to feel any sense of attachment to the community they are supposed to be serving because everyone they see is a criminal. How do you expect them to behave in those circumstances?

“Yakov, it’s only illegal for the manufacturers to remove these. It’s OK for you do to it.”

Currently and for some time, the label adds “Except by the consumer”. But I remember when that was not part of the label.

Probably Portland or NY, where they don’t arrest anyone for real crime.
