“American Exceptionalism” is just another buzzword Republicans invented so they could paint Democrats as un-American and un-patriotic without getting criticized for calling them that specifically. Social Programs over the years have made America just as “exceptional” as Business Successes or the ability to project military power.
It’s not necessarily a matter of race, although there’s been quite a bit of racial sorting into haves and have-nots. That will change. Westerners often forget this fact, non-Westerners never do.”Jared Diamond won a Pulitzer pointing out the basis for exceptionalism was Guns, Germs, and Steel.Anyone saying America is exceptional because of our system of government is ignoring the fact that we live in an Oligarchy/Plutocracy, not anything like what the Founder’s envisioned.
