My spelchek once underlined “trombone.” I’ve left it off ever since.

I use spell check, but not autocorrect. That way I’m alerted to any problems, but don’t have a word turned into something I hadn’t intended.

I use spelling checker. Spellcheck is for Harry Potter.

One girl in my sixth grade class went up to the teacher because she was trying to read the word “embarrassed” and couldn’t figure out how to pronounce it. He was trying to get her to sound it out and she wasn’t getting it right. So then he goes (loud enough to get the attention of the whole class and doing what he’s saying at the same time) “OK, what if I take you by the wrist here and hold you up here, making a spectacle of you, and your face starts turning all beet red….etc. How do you feel now?” Then she got it.

That spell check can get you in trouble two, especially if the word isn’t misspelled. And it’s addressed to Miss Pelled.

I used to have trouble with it, but I always remember now by using ‘Em’ ‘bar’ ‘rass’.
