I don’t think that’s what Hobbes was planning, Calvin.

At least he knows what an aphorism is.

Tiger aphorisms are truly a mouthful!

For a six year-old, Calvin’s gotta be in the top one tenth of 1% for vocabulary.

“He who lives by aphorism, soon is the butt of witticism!”

Watterson is able to build his rhymes with a musical meter where the lines have the same number of syllables and the emphasis of syllables follows a common pattern. I don’t know what that’s called, but it looks hard.

Well, that explains our corporate promotion plan. Sort of puts a new spin on “Tiger Team” for me.

I hate it when a six year old can use aphorism in a sentence and I can’t.

Human version: ‘The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step’.

Brilliant! The motto of any cat species, in a nutshell.

Calvin knows some big words for a first grade……I had to look up “aphorism”……..

I have to say I am STILL trying to find the moment to use that aphorism at work. :-)

Calvin will never grow up to be a tiger with that attitude. (Maybe an antelope)

Now I want to write couplet aphorisms for all sorts of species.

So, tigers only eat fresh kills? And they ignore leftovers? How does a tuna fish sandwich fit into that food model?

Maybe Calvin has to hang the sandwich from string in a tree, poke it with a stick, and hide.

Until you study and go to school you can’t be free.

I think Hobbes made a very important point here. Until you focus and work hard, you would not survive in this world. Bright little stuffed tiger there.
