I could change my own oil, but I’d need a power lift for the car and a bigger garage to put the lift in. And oil and a filter. And maybe a filter wrench. I THINK I have a box end wrench…
Well, it would depend on the vehicle. I just had to “look” for a leak on my wife’s 07 Trailblazer and have to remove the skid plate to even see the oil pan (4 bolts) and ratcheting wrench would have been easier. Also the garage with lift would help too (haha)
Betty, I’m sure your dad, “Nine-Finger Nate”, could figure out how to do any job with pliers, baling wire, and duct tape. But if he’d had the proper tools, he probably wouldn’t have earned that nickname.

And the tension ratchets up!

A slightly offset box end wrench works best for changing oil. That and an oil filter tool. I’d post a link but it would look like a ad for Sears.

My first car I could almost get into with the engine. Now I can’t get my hands in there.

He’ll be there buying the oil and filter anyway – those ratcheting wrenches are as good as bought.

the current style of ratcheting wrenches have only been around since 95, so her dad may not have had them.

I’m curious to see if tomorrow’s strip has his face covered in oil. Go ahead, ask me why I might be curious about that …
