“Got a live one here…”

I get at least one of those exact calls a day. I haven’t had a car or driven for over three years. Bah Humbug

No idea what this is referring to. Must be a US-only thing.

I keep getting calls from “Microsoft Windows” telling me my computer is spewing spam and they need me in front of it right now. Last time, I said, “There must be some mistake. I have a Mac.” After a long pause, the heavily-accented voice said, “One moment, please. I will connect you with that department.”

If it’s urgent, they will do what the IRS does, send a registered letter. Fortunately those days are well behind me.

Visa calls me at least once a week, telling me about the two purchases that I made that morning at 6…always the same ones, too…

Before they all became robo-calls, I used to ask the caller, “which car?” That usually threw them…

There is always someone that falls.

Love those calls.

I haven’t owned a vehicle since last century.

“ My partner, a Nigerian Prince, handles that department”.

They keep promising it is my last chance, but they haven’t stopped yet. Sigh.

Our family kept our phone listed under my deceased grandfather’s name for years. Saved us from a lot of bogus calls about him having a computer.

I am still waiting for the sheriff to come and arrest me because I committed a crime against the taxman. But I am not worried about missing my court date. Then there is the tax man who says he has my file in front of him and he is taking me to court. I said “If you have my file in front of you…what is my social insurance number?” He replied “That is confidential information”. Right, sure Mac.

Worst is, far too many people believe those scams.

Obviously people fall for it, or they wouldn’t keep doing it.

On a different note, is Sal named after the Oakland A’s player Sal Bando?
