In the 19th century, you had to pay for the fireman’s services. If you wander around in some of the older parts of East Coast cities, (USA), you can still see fire badges on the sides of older buildings. If you didn’t have the right badge or no badge at all, they wouldn’t fight your fire and let the structure burn down.
One of my prior homes was back off the road a bit and if you tried to follow the map or a GPS, you ended up in a (seasonal) swamp. One day the dogs started barking, so I went outside and there was an emergency vehicle. Turns out they were checking addresses and showing the rookie around. They saw my sign at the end of the driveway and drove up.
I’m surprised some enterprising heron or flamingo hasn’t opened a gourmet restaurant in Treetops. . .Also, how about a gym or Pilates???? Then again, maybe not. . .

So, Roz and Cosmo are too stupid to flee a fire? I sense they will not be in the strips after dying today.
