Regardless of how you cut it, when you add the people who are not engaged, (40-60%), to the people who are actively agreeing, (20-30%), you are left with less than half resisting, (10-40%). A vocal minority seems larger than it is, that is why so many Americans think Europeans don’t like us, they see protests and they assume that it is the opinion of the majority, the majority of Europeans like/tolerate easily Americans. If your family all visits you in the hospital to say their last goodbyes, are they conforming? If your fire department sends a dozen fighters to help you put out your housefire, are they conforming? Is conforming the same as acting together, and is that always something you can rub their noses in? … Your bias has dictated your script today, and boxes you into an unbecoming position.

Unfortunately, almost 40% of the country isn’t resisting. Besides, it’s not about not-conforming, it’s about conscience.
