    Well fuzzbucket and Boots at Boar I was curious so I Googled it:

    1889Specifically, baker Raffaele Esposito from Naples is often given credit for making the first such pizza pie. Historians note, however, that street vendors in Naples sold flatbreads with toppings for many years before then. Legend has it that Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita visited Naples in 1889.

    We were planning on having pizza for Thanksgiving, but I had to pick up some prescriptions, so I picked up a couple of turkey and dressing dinners to pop into the microwave, instead. Not too bad for our first Thanksgiving alone since we got married, 48 years ago. Hopefully we can go back to having it with family again next year.
