… because Canadian fans can’t cross the border to see the game anyway due to COVID restrictions. (The Raptors could play just fine in Canada, actually — as long as they didn’t actually play any American teams.) Hell, they could play in Wichita for all it mattered.
It seems to me that this insistence on playing sports during a pandemic has very little to do with “the fans need their sports” and a whole lot to do with various entities making money.

The Raptors are just doing what thousands of Canadians did until this year: beat feet to Florida for the winter. Luckily for them, they’re allowed.

They are close to Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, and New Orleans. And from this location the Raptors do not cross the closed border.
