Back when I was little, my mother told me she had an eye in the back of her head so she could see what I was doing even when she wasn’t looking. One day she was laying on the couch so I snuck up behind her and started looking in her hair. She asked me what I was doing and I replied, “I’m looking for the eye in back of your head!” After she stopped laughing, she told me it was a figure of speech. To this day I wonder how she saw all the stuff I did even without the eye…

The usual expression has “in the back of” rather than “behind,” but space is at a premium here.
