It is in his nature Mr Dear…use him to rototill a specific area perhaps, or give him his own little patch to practice his excavation skills?

Because he is a Bassett hound and they were bred to go after burrowing animals. He is just doing what comes naturally to his breed. so let him alone and just love him.
