Break away arms. Which do you think will leave the bigger scratch, the arms, or the train?
They’re usually called gates, and they’re not really made to break away easily, but driving through them usually won’t kill you. If they did break completely away they might end up on the tracks and derail the train.

Almost happened to me once. The arm came down on the hood of my car.
The engineer did that on purpose. He likes it.
