My first father-in-law was a bit of a character. He always took the month of August off, let his beard grow out, and wore lederhosen and an alpine cap to the state fair and other events (his family was German) and quite often had a leash just like Broomie’s. I think he was just hoping for an easy way for people he didn’t know yet to start a conversation with him.
