I’m not a cat person, (allergic to cat dander). But when I had a dog, she learned to sleep at the foot of the bed. I weigh 18.5 stone and roll around a lot when I sleep. Even at the foot of the bed could be debated, (I’m also 6’4").
That doesn’t work w/my 3. They resort to going over to my nightstand and testing gravity. Seeing how many items they can knock off my nightstand at 3-4 am, until I am forced to get out of bed and threaten them w/their lives. I usually enjoy sleeping w/them, though. My Siamese mix, Bing, keeps me warm in cold weather. He doesn’t sleep w/me at all in warmer temperatures, but when it gets cold, he comes into my bed during the night and climbs right on my legs or up against my backside, depending on how I am positioned.
I had a little black cat named Kellie. I had to set my alarm for 5 minutes before I actually had to get up. Kellie would hear the alarm, run & jump on the bed, burrow under the blankets & into my arms, then snuggle & purr…for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes – every time – she would bite my finger, letting me know that her time was up. LOL
I’ve had cats tap me on the mouth, just to get the point across. One used to gently bite my nose, as if he were checking to see if I was food yet. The current cats usually sit by my face and purr-bomb as loud as they can.
One of my cats sleeps on me all night. I’m cognizant to roll slowly so she can move. If it’s hot and I sleep in my skivvies with no blankets, she sleeps on the part of me that’s covered by my undies. She’s like a furry hot water bottle!

I remember being startled awake early one morning by a little wet cat nose sniffing my eyelid. After that he got shut in the laundry room at night.

Katie socked me in the right eye this morning to get me up. She’s such a patient and gentle wake ’em up cat…not.

This must be where kids learn this trick of manipulation. If one parent won’t give you what you want, go ask the other parent.
