I’m guessing Charles Schulz knew of Ollie Bejma growing up as a kid in St. Paul with the minor league Saints and the Minneapolis Millers playing in the American Association until 1960, when the original Washington Senators moved to Minnesota and became the Twins.
I remember Ollie Bejma being one of the first thing I checked out when I found baseballreference.com and seen they had beaucoup minor league stats. Schulz grew up in St. Paul and must have seen many Saints games (long before the Twins, of course). I always wondered what made him come up with Ollie Bejma and not Roy Anton, George Stumpf, Bob Bokum or any of the mighty Saints.
I walked into history class and the teacher said they found a new hominid and did anyone know what it was? I said Zirjanthropus Boisei! She said I was right and did I read it in the TIMES! No, I read it that morning in Alley OOP! She was not pleased!!! It was true, btw! I got a paper to show her.
I used to do the same thing to people with original series Star Trek episodes. Someone once gave me a Trek trivia game as a present…I found mistakes in it.
I used to play a similar game in middle school. Someone would name a known athlete and the next person would have to use the last letter of that name as the first letter of the athlete he chose. More than once a soccer fan would give me “Pele.” My name would invariably be “Eddie Merkx.” I won when that happened. Good times. Trivia. Name the first team based in the USA to win the Stanley Cup. Clue, they were based WEST of the Mississippi.
Minor League Baseball questions. Snoopy and Woodstock really follow baseball. And I bet Woodstock corrected Snoopy on the position Bejma played (had to look the name up myself as St. Paul was getting me since I didn’t know of any major league team that had been in St. Paul, much less knowing the variosu teams in ’38). Bejma actually played second base for the St. Paul Saints in the ’38 American Association penant race

Not a stretch … If CB know about Joe Schlobotnik, then I guess Woodstock can know about Mr. Bejma …

Have we ever seen Snoopy hang skull before, off of the dog house like that?

Guess flying upside down and bonking his head must’ve unlocked something in Woodstock’s noggin
