This is Hubby and me – he wants the bedroom 90-F and sleep on top of the covers, and I prefer it closer to 50-F, open the window, and snuggle under the quilt. I think it’s One of The Rules; opposites attract, or something.
But seriously folks, get her thyroid checked. I’m always cold, and it starts with my nose. Turns out I have Hashimoto ‘s disease. Yes I know it’s a comic strip. They could find a comic strip doctor.
Growing up, most of our house was uninsulated. I used to wake up in the night and read, but because it was freezing, I’d go down to the bathroom and sit in front of the furnace register. My back would be toasted, but there rest of me’d feel warm again.
Due to physiological differences women are probably going to be less comfortable at a temperature that men typically preferhttps://www.theguardian.com/science/shortcuts/2017/oct/11/why-women-sewcretly-turn-up-the-heating
I went through most of my life feeling HOT. As an adult I would not need to wear a winter jacket until the temperature dropped into the 40Fs and would not zip it closed until around the 20Fs. My husband was always sure that I would be sick from this – but I was not. My husband was always the cold one, not me.
Somewhere around 15 years ago – more or less at the same time – I lost weight, went through menopause and suddenly was diagnosed with a low thyroid and started taking meds for it.
Since then I am freezing cold until the temperature goes into the 90Fs – at that point I felt “not cold” – meaning I don’t feel warm, but no longer feel cold. I had figured that when one feels cold, one dresses warmer to deal with it. One day in the 80s when I had a sweatshirt on I found that the hard way that if one dresses warmer when it is hot out – one gets heatstroke.
These winter nights I am sleeping in old jeans, old tee shirt and a sweatshirt with heavy loose socks on and covered by 3 blankets – and I can deal with how I feel, but still am not warm. I have a pair of knit gloves that I keep just to put my hands in the freezer to take out or put in food.
And I would never move to a warmer clime. I would just get sick from trying to get warm in the hot weather there while still feeling cold, at least here I can put on warmer clothing.

She obviously did not “save the drama for her mama”, so it worked this time.

I am always cold, how is that any sort of insult? I’ve never seen Katy so relatable…
