Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Hmmmm… Being from a Flemish manuscript, I would expect the original name to sound like Middle Dutch… something like “Kleine Neuro”.
“Petit Neureaux” is what I would have expected from a Walloon manuscript, that is, from the Southern, French part of present-day Belgium, rather than Flemish (from the Northern, Dutch part).
Petey’s conclusion is itself pure golden! And it is so true. We have numerous histories of comics, various online resources, and comics museums today! Richard himself was so memorialized!
For comic strip research, this is a new Golden Age! Why, who knew before that Little Neuro goes back to early 16th century origins?!

Once again, a little over 10 years ago, Richard posted a blog entry regarding this strip:Â
http://richardspooralmanac.blogspot.com/2011/01/todays-cul-de-sac-january-23-2011.htmlÂ
The first link in the entry no longer exists; but, I think Richard meant to point to what’s contained in these 3 archived pages:Â

Petit Neureaux sounds like Rip Van Winkle, except that PN managed to sleep through the entire Renaissance.

It might not make any difference right now, Petey, but, you’re starting to sound like Charlie Brown’s teacher to Alice!

I’d read that whole book if someone could promise I’d never hear another political troll whine about Trump…
