That whole “with age comes wisdom” thing? It’s optimistic. Or else “wisdom” is simpler than I always thought: Having lived through a few things, I’m now “wise” enough to not drive while intoxicated, hammer tacks that I’m holding with my finger and thumb, or drink my tea before it’s cool enough. I even wear ear protectors to save what’s left of my hearing. Heck, I’m even “wise” enough to know I don’t know, some of the time. Too bad that appears to be a higher bar than most of us mostly manage to get over.
