We are low on snow in parts of New England as well. Not a good thing since no snow last winter, no rain over last summer. Means no hay for this YEAR. What will be available will be sparse and expensive. And quickly gone.
I remember a time when I took my puppy, Izaak, for a winter walk in Syracuse NY. He couldn’t walk on the road; it was too cold. He just shivered so I scooped him up and put him under my parka. He reached up, licked my face then snuggled in next to me. I cried all the way home (still shed a tear thinking about that…)
I would tell the story about when the virus gets under control and Pasquale is able to go back to in-person school. The Gumbos stand at the door and wave as he gets on the bus, and Jimbo shouts,
A little polar bear asks his dad, “Daddy, am I a REAL polar bear?”
His father replies, “Yes boy, you are a REAL polar bear.”Moments later that little polar bear walks to his mother and also asks her: “Mommy, am I a REAL polar bear?”
His mother says: “Yes dear, you are a REAL POLAR BEAR. But why do you ask that? ”
“Well” says the little polar bear. “I am so cold!”

It’s pretty tough when an inch of snow is enough to run down into your galoshes.

Not complaining entirely, but we are a bit short of snow in northern Illinois this year.

“Bye, son!”
But that would be too easy….
