For a while there was this “scheme” where the company promised to send you a business starter kit. It was all the materials for small businesses that you could get from the Government Printing office for free.
Don’t know if it’s still there, but there used to be adds in comics about making loads of money by stuffing envelopes. It was classic. Of course it was instruction on how to put ads in comics about making money stuffing envelopes. I read an article somewhere about somebody that tried it. It kinda worked, but you had to stuff on hell of a lot of envelopes for a meager return.
The guy dreams of a better life for himself and his family, and is gullible. That doesn’t make him a jerk, it just means he needs to run things by his wife first.
Years ago… well, not THAT many years ago, you could always find ads in cheap, local papers saying “Make money stuffing envelopes. Send $1 and two first-class stamps to….” You sent in a buck and got back a mimeo flyer about buying ads in cheap local newspapers advertising how to “Make money stuffing envelopes”.
You were out a buck and the kicker is it only took one stamp to mail it back to you.
