Eugene Goodman got promoted to acting Deputy Sergeant at Arms of the United States Senate for his bravery.
He’s also an Army veteran who was in combat in the Iraq war.
After these events at the capitol, Goodman’s former unit, the XVIII Airborne Corps, issued a statement commending his valor and saying that he “was a hero long before last Wednesday.”
The Senate has voted to give the Congressional Gold Medal to Eugene Goodman.
