Good idea, Grandpa Jim! I have a two-year-old granddaughter and she is also into everything. Makes me appreciate her 6-year-old brother.

And so begins April’s very important relationship with her grandfather

Lynn doesn’t write of because Lynn isn’t aware of, any more than is April, her annoying impositions.

I have to wonder—will Michael booby-trap Liz’ room while she’s away? I wouldn’t put it past him.

My 5-year-old granddaughter “captures” me by handing onto my leg. A lot heavier than a 2-year-old.

Of course she’s into everything, Elly…she’s a toddler. You still have two older toddlers, remember?

When our older daughter was not quite 2, we took her to visit with my husband’s mother. She had a large glass bowl filled with water & decorative rocks on her coffee table, and (of course) remotes. She also had some knickknacks on low shelves. She was about to move them, when we told her not to. We pointed them out to our daughter, told her to NOT touch them…and the rest of the visit went fine.

Self preservation is a valid response when faced with the aggressively adorable. Retreat with honor Grandpa. You have this.

Everything is breakable. Some things more easily than others. I was lucky in that none of my grandparents ever broke any bones. But one grandmother died when I was pretty young — of diabetes, I think. Still remember cutting up the Sunday comics to take them upstairs to show them to her.

and young dogs are like children…at least my mom’s dog is…for she always just wants to jump all over anyone who is within reach of her…i am glad my mom finally has her under control and not that the dog has my mom off her feet…

1 and 4 y.o. greats will be here this weekend. I know the feeling.

Impossible to turn away from a cute toddler….

Everyone says I’m breakable; I’m small, but I try to tell them that I won’t break when they hug me. Of course, I did break my collarbone in December, so maybe I am breakable, after all. Quien sabe?

I would never take a child that age to stay at someone else’s home. The other home is not childproofed and the old folks probably have meds in reach. There is so much danger for a small child in a house like this. Someone will need to watch April every moment she is awake.

How old are these grandparents supposed to be? They look awfully feeble.

My parents have been absolutely ecstatic with my brothers kids. However, there have been a couple of sets of glasses that needed new arms installed during the early years …

The last panel is so sweet. Nothing can be more rejuvenating than getting hugged by a grandchild.

Imagine if Grandpa came to visit the Pattersons, then seeing the Enjos triggers war flashbacks of him being imprisoned in a tiger cage by the japs. Then Gordon and Darryl show up and wonder what is happening, then Jim yells “US Marines! Am I ever glad to see you!”
