prisoners are paranoid, they fully understand that their fellow inmates have no honor, they will rat out a close family member to get a shorter sentence

This is another thing about this strip that fascinates me.

I don’t think I have ever seen a comic strip that addresses the issue of prisons, convicts, and ex-cons, in a humorous, yet realistic and serious manner (as opposed to the “Spook” in “Wizard of Id,” for example).

It makes you think about imprisoned people, and returning ex-offenders in a serious way.

For my money, this is one of the best comic strips around. The humor is both obvious and subtle at the same time, realistic yet optimistic, with memorable characters. I’m going to have to get Rob Armstrong’s autobiography.

I wish my father was around to read this strip…he was a very talented cartoonist and historian of American comic strips. He would enjoy it. He died five days after my wedding, so he never got to meet his granddaughter, who is an equally talented cartoonist. The ability jumped a generation.

So move him to another jail.

PC (protective custody) is by definition a snitch, because they at least have to say who they’re afraid of & why. Lifesaving heroics (while firefighting or snitching on a vaccine heist) would rate early release.

There are few secrets in lock-up, and the grapevine is more efficient than the NSA.
