    At first glance, I parsed that as ‘book soup’. That it tastes like vegetables is an understandable grievance, if he’d been expecting alphabets!! >X^D

    Of course this is in the time of the troglodyte. There were no vegetarians or vegans. We did not know what vegetables were, other than they were dangerous and could kill you if you ate one. Took us a long time to figure out what plants were safe to eat and what would cause you a Horrifying death. Trial and error with a lot of death. So Rock soup was safe and should not taste like vegetables. Then you could always use the rock to hunt with.

    They ate whatever they can find. Nuts, insects, berries, carrion etc.
