NO NO NO. The reason they call it that is in order to make conch chowder, you lure the snail’s head out of the shell, then you take a hammer and conk it on the head, then drag the rest of the body out of the shell.
My voice assistance mispronounces Proper Nouns and there is no way I can correct it.
