The “Weather-related school canceled day” may be a thing of the past now. Even kids who stay home sick may still find themselves attending class virtually.
And if it were Saturday, instead of a school day, you’d want to be inside in front of a computer or the television instead of outside freezing your tail off.
Kids are stressed enough with remote learning. My daughter’s school is hybrid. Alternating weeks on campus and remote. With all of the safety protocols, on campus isn’t the same which adds to their stress levels. I think that snow day opportunities should be honored as mental health days.
Unlike Katy, I’m at the stage in my life where being “chilled to the bone with frozen snot in my nose” has lost its appeal. So while I wouldn’t mind the occasional snow day off from work, there is compensation in working from home and not having to do the 90-minute commute in inclement weather.

So finish your schoolwork, then go outside to play.

When I was her age, we never had snow days. Even if it was minus 40 we would take our lunch with us and stay until it was time to go home.

The sledding hill is closed for the snow day, they recommend you use the virtual sledding app.

Looks odd out their window. Green grass, green trees and a few snow flakes…

I’m surprised no one has commented on the beautiful green lawn and shrubbery outside the window. The sleddin’ hill would be tough going.

We only had snow days when there was way too much new snow to get to our sledding hill.

We’ve all had to suffer a lot of inconvenience because of the pandemic, but I really do feel for the kids

Look at it this way, school now gets out in late May or early June instead of later in June.
