Interesting difference between adults and kids. If high school kid waits more than 30 seconds to reply to a social media post, the others in the threads will think you don’t care and will get offended.
My mother would get angry if I did not answer instantly. She refused to understand that I had a practice to run and could not be sitting at my computer all say. Nowadays I don’t answer anything in less than one hour unless it’s urgent.
Personally, I maintain a fifteen-or-so-minute rule for most e-mails, and slightly less time for texts. I assume the senders won’t go anywhere while they wait …
What do you gain by waiting to answer the messages? I know you got “pinged” about them, as soon as I sent them. Yep! You are ignoring me, for someone better!

More than half of mine are spam, so I ignore them all when they come in.
