The pressure de-activated feeder – about $80 at Home Depot or of course Amazon – actually works. Tension is adjustable in case you have big heavy woodpeckers around, but squirrels land on the bar and the bottom part slides down, blocking all access to seed. They give up trying because they learn it’s pointless. I’ve seen it firsthand. It really works. Of course the birds are so messy that there’s plenty of seed strewn about the ground for them (and doves).
My mother has quite a few nut trees out front of her house. Seriously, she has no problems with the squirrels getting into the bird feeders in the back.
All those mechanical things are just training exercises for squirrels. They are quick learners. We tried seed mixed with hot pepper. They munch on it, then stop, wipe their faces in the dirt of a nearby flowerpot, then go back and munch some more.
Putting out squirrel feeders seems to be the only diversion that works, and then you have to make sure those are kept full.

That’ll provide for a lot Youtube fodder, but not much solutions.
