We did Spring cleaning today, we each pulled the names of 2 rooms out of a bag. I got the family room and laundry room. Cleaned them from top to bottom. I even got the kids to move the couch so I could vacuum the back of the rug, turn it around and spot clean. Washed the windows, dusted the shutters and set the washer to self clean. We also cleaned our own bedrooms and bathrooms. I probably won’t be able to move tomorrow.
I don’t know, guys…if I ordered food from a food service and they didn’t deliver within a reasonable amount of time, I’d call back and cancel my order and then then I’d eat something else. Probably something very high in calories.
Right, I spoke to the vet on Friday late afternoon, and we have a treatment plan for the next two weeks. Overall I think she’s reached a holding pattern with her respiratory issues and the dosage of the medication, and we will continue with the same pattern of medication for the next two weeks and monitor her health. She’s on half a steroid tablet every other day, and 70ml of antibiotic every three days.
Her breathing is more audible than I’d like, but it doesn’t seem to be upsetting her, unlike before we started on this treatment. She’s a lot brighter than she was two/three weeks ago, and she’s eating well. These are both good things. One thing I had noticed, that I suspected a while back, is that her hearing has gone; she appears to be quite deaf at normal, and raised, vocal levels. I can’t be absolutely certain when this happened, but I suspect she’s been deaf for over six months or more, but as cats do tend to ignore their human servants, the fact she didn’t respond when I called to her wasn’t a cause for concern. I did a few tests, and confirmed her deafness. A good test is when the cat is facing away from you, clicking your fingers or making a sharp sound will normally make them twitch their ears as they try and locate/identify the noise. A deaf cat will not tend to move its ears unless they’re touched. I have spoken to the vet about this, and it could be either caused by the respiratory problems, or her ears are gunked up, but they look fairly clean.
She will have a trip to the vet next Friday week for an examination to see how she is doing, and we’ll take it from there. The good news for the time being is that she’s breathing well and not in any distress, and she seems quite happy (Apart from medication time of course!).
Their business plan has got to be either really stupid or really brilliant. (Maybe even a little bit of both.) On another note, saw a wren and two nuthatches while out walking today.
We’ve had thunder storms coming through west Tennessee all day. At 10 this morning, there was such a heavy downpour…we got nearly 2 inches in 10-15 minutes. The rain poured over the road causing a waterfall into the back yard, and flooding the backyard quickly. The sound of rushing/falling water was nice to hear if one imagined one were in the mountains listening to a waterfall…but realizing it was going to get bad for one wee donkey to get into the back yard for dinner…tragedy. And yes it was still flooded at 4 this afternoon. So I put on boots and took Tinker’s dinner down to the barn. She had spent the afternoon in her hay pavilion with shelter from the rain. Donkey’s hate rain. A horse will stand out in it all day…but never a donkey!

And if they charge a heavy bill for their “service” it may also help people’s wallets to lose weight.
