The colored iFruit joke was prescient. Apple just announced yesterday that iMacs are now in mulitple color. I feel Roger’s pain. I spent three minutes trying to find the CD slot of my most recent iMac before realizing it didn’t have one.
When I was in college 3.5 inch disks were a new thing, replacing the older 5.25 inch floppy disks. I heard someone in the computer lab tried folding a 5.25 inch disk in half to get it to fit into the 3.5 inch slot.
I found about 10 lbs worth of floppy drives (3.5 inch) in my attic. I even have a about a half dozen 5.25 inch floppies that contained fonts. I say “contained” (past tense) because even if I could find something to read them, they would probably be unreadable after 20 years in the attic.
It is a bit annoying to me that the way that laptop companies have made their systems more compact is to simply remove features – even to the point of removing the connectors that you need to get the external versions of the features they removed!

It probably doesn’t have a cup holder, either.

I remember this strip and now think about the headphone jack in the iPods.

That’s nothing “floppy” about that. It’s a 3.5 floppy and it might interest you to know they, and the equipment to use them, are still being made.

Also, can’t he see there’s no drive?
