Try not to stomp too hard, Heart. You could slip and spill your food.

Your friends are not you friends if they don’t tell you to knock your B. S. Off

I think these kids have learned it’s better to not add to the problem with their comments. Far better to let the two figure out for themselves, how ridiculous they were (& are) being.

All that those two can see currently is that they are growing in different directions. Heart has developed skills that let her influence people. Kat has spent more time on academics and fulfilling her curiosity. If they had a mutual project then the utilization of both skill sets could fuse them into a formidable team, but what they are noticing too much now is only that they differ rather than valuing the differences.

This is normal for kids. When that viewpoint causes the most problems is when adults approach each other this way, not respecting that having different perspectives, different skill sets, and different types of expertise is a communal strength to value, not to defensively or egotistically put down, and certainly not anything “elite”. I want farmers farming rather than marketing executives doing it, marketing executives figuring out how to get people eating healthier produce as defined by registered dieticians, surgeons performing surgery rather than politicians doing that but the politicians and judges who have studied law protecting the Constitution and Balances of Powers which protect us, chefs creating interesting dishes, car mechanics repairing vehicles, musicians and actors entertaining, etc. People who put a lot of work into developing skills are simply better at those skills than those who look from the sidelines, and those looking from the sidelines, no matter what job they are examining from a perspective of ignorance, need to realize that pretty much anything you do not know how to do is going to seem easier than it really is when you are only an observer rather than a participant.

A fight will take all the colour out of your lives. Or, in this case, strip.
