I wonder how many kids complain of having nothing to do in the summertime? When I was that age, that was a major point of summer; just relax with nothing to do! Enjoy the peace and quiet! There’s plenty of time for baseball, swimming, volleyball, or anything else, but sheesh! Laying around doing nothing because you don’t HAVE to do anything is what makes summer so great! These kids today! What are you gonna do with them?
When I was a kid, I learned really fast not to say I had nothing to do to close to a grown-up. Grandmothers and mothers were the worst. “You can help me weed the garden, help your father check the fence for holes, check the coop for eggs, etc.”

I usually suggest that she can do homework, practice math facts, or clean her room if my 3rd grade daughter mentions being bored.
