I’ve loved Wallace’s family and friends for quite a while. Now I love Mrs. McIntosh too.
2. But if he gets it sharpened, in most present school systems it would probably fall afoul of “no dangerous weapons allowed on school grounds” policies. But I imagine Mr. Hayes or Mrs. Mc would hold it in a secure spot till the end of the school day.
3. Reflecting on the speculation about the index card posted next to the class room, it looks to me as if someone has moved the conjectured thumbtack and added a schmack of duct tape to keep it in place and upright.
“The Road goes ever on and onDown from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone,And I must follow, if I can,Pursuing it with eager feet,Until it joins some larger wayWhere many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say” -JRRT
I’m really liking the transition to a Tolkien theme here and I am even happier that Spud knows the lore – as much as I would like to think I was Wallace at that age … I had plenty of Spud in me.

Spud in a room with lathes, routers, jigsaws, and grinders—maybe he should stand outside and toss the pencil in.

What’s the status on the sharpener? It looks like it’s in one piece but it hasn’t been turned upright yet…

spud has a friend along with his quest: the seagull and hopefully wallace (this quest sounds like in wallace’s interest)
