Surprised that Tommy Chestnut’s parents didn’t sue Calvin’s parents.

Is it just me, or do Mom, Calvin, and Hobbes all look a little different in today’s strip?

Yup – sounds about right! Hobbes pulling Calvin’s chestnuts out of the fire.

When she called Hobbes a stuffed tiger, did she mean toy tiger or a tiger that ate too much? Calvin doesn’t react to the phrase “stuffed tiger.”

A bit of early installment weirdness, with Hobbes implying he actually ate a kid!

In Calvin’s imagination, Hobbes ate the kid. But what actually happened to make the other kids quit making fun of him? Of course, for most of the strip’s run, Hobbes stayed home when Calvin went to school.

Which is why raccoons always wash their food. (And it’s hilarious to watch them try and wash stale bread. They look so baffled when it just melts away.)

I guess Moe hadn’t been created yet?
