Have you ever noticed that Congress ALWAYS raises their own salary but REFUSE to raise the minimum wage? Shows you where their priorities lay. If they were paid for the work they do, they would OWE the government money. Most work maybe one day a week…if that.
Back in the ‘80s, there was a big stink when it was discovered that a lot of congress members were sleeping in their offices because they couldn’t afford two residences.
When I had recently joined a particular company, I was shocked to be warned by several employees that whatever starting salary I had negotiated would be my salary forever. The owner’s policy was to not give raises, and there were people there who had not ever had a raise in many years – even after being commended for good work. Of course, employee turnover became a real problem at that company once the local economy got better…
