True story: A senior girl, at the high school, lit a cigarette and walked down the hallway on the last day of school – what are they gonna do?

BIG NATE AND THE BET: Part 37 (I think)

Nate woke up the next morning and got dressed. As he did so, he began to think about the one problem that was still on his mind. “Could I be falling for Dee Dee?” he thought. Sure, she was cute and had a wonderful sense of humor, but Nate had always been just friends with her. Then again, Francis and Teddy were right, they did make a cute couple.

“Why must love be so complicated? Why can’t it be as simple as something like soccer? Or cartooning?” Nate muttered to himself as he made his way downstairs to the kitchen. It didn’t help that Dee Dee wasn’t exactly easy to read and Nate wasn’t the greatest at reading people. Dee Dee seemed to hint that she liked Nate as more than a friend yesterday, but a few years ago she told him that she just wanted to be friends. “Maybe she wants something more now,” Nate thought, “Maybe, just maybe, she wants to go out with me. I could try and find out tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, at his house, Randy was busy calling someone. “Yeah, Nate was at Dee Dee’s house yesterday. Looks the drama queen is Nate’s date to the dance. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure it won’t happen, just as long as you do your part.” The person on the other end of the call said something in reply, and Randy responded with, " Glad we’re on the same page. Tomorrow, I’ll have my revenge, and you’ll have your dream guy."
