I never understood the “sufferin’ endorphin” thing until I took up dancing. Back when (and I very much hope, also "soon when) we’d dance for about three hours, with short breaks. Quite feasible to wear through leather shoe soles in just a few dances.
my podiatrist told me in the 70’s that walking was just as good as running for exercise as long as the distance was equal… and WAY better for your feet and joints to boot!
Frazz16 hrs · The late, great Detroit Tigers manager Sparky Anderson could juggle the English language as well as Yogi Berra, and maybe in a better way. He was a little less funny, but he was a little more wise. One of his quotes, and the one dearest to me, was “Pain don’t hurt.” There’s such truth in that, such beautiful and inaccessible truth.
Sparky also knew how to stop talking once he’d made his point, which makes him a lot different from me. That’s my way of saying I’m about to try and build on his point and note that some of what hurts the most isn’t technically pain, either.
I think Sparky understood that, too. Another of my favorite Sparky quotes came after he was asked for his thoughts on a particularly bad drubbing: "The only reason I’m coming out here tomorrow is the schedule says I have to.” That, my friends, is someone who hurts. Someone, as it happens, with real dignity who hurts.

Very good today. In this situation, Mr. Harris nailed both types of injury.

Actually, the whole strip is pretty Zen, and many of Frazz’s Socratic exchanges are too deep for me.
