This is the first time that I have seen Andy’s teeth as in the first panel!

Andy’s a legend in his own time and in his own mind

He spends his days on the couch while his wife works, he spends his nights mooching drinks and getting drunk, and falling into the canal and getting arrested.

I can see why he’d be the main subject of local gossip and why everyone would be able to answer that question.

Maybe he’ll go to church tonight. And pray that he doesn’t fall into the canal.

A joke that would work if Andy was in The USA:Q-Why didn’t Andy Capp become a lawyer ? A-Because he couldn’t pass the bar.

Actually that question was pretty easy to answer, there a tally sign by the canal for everyone to see.

Could be worse. It could have been “how many times has Andy lost at the horse track?”
