I don’t see any reasonable way to get them past it, though. They’ve been breeding themselves to hate (back) for at least a couple of thousand years.
This begs the question: Is there an UNreasonable way? Nothing that makes sense to me, that I’ve seen. The one thing that seems to work is a regional strong-man such as Saddam Hussein. Definitely not a reasonable solution, but it did, sort of, keep the quiet, if not the peace.
