So true. I worked at a huge store in a mall where the employee break room was at the opposite end of the building from the part I worked in (and up a few flights of stairs). But a spot selling food with tables and bathrooms was only about 100 feet away. So I would just go there during short 15 minute breaks. It kind of annoyed my boss, but like Penny I didn’t want to waste most of the break navigating my way back and forth to the break room.
At a pet store I used to work at, I had a few coworkers wear a shirt under their work shirt. When it was break time, lunch time, or time to leave, they would take their work shirt off quickly as they walked back to clock out. Worked a lot. ; ) Funny thing happened to me a few times. When I went next door to Walmart or the Grocery Store, people would stop me and ask for help, thinking I was an employee there. (Even though my shirt had the pet store name on it and “Dog Training Instructor” on the back. Well, they just see a uniform. : )

In my old shop, a lunch break was guaranteed to provoke a rush of customers…
