If your relationship with your Mom is like mine was, you’ve never had a better mentor and friend. I lived 3,000 miles away from her for 22 years, but managed to fly to see she and my Dad every year. In between we had the phone and early versions of email. I’m so grateful to her for all she taught me and her example of strength in times of adversity.

The only marriage advise I was ever given was “Never live more than a day’s drive from you wife’s mother.” I never got married. I wish them all well.
