I was 100% certain someone would have already said the term is “damp squib” but maybe that old joke is part of the other old joke?

That prop, but oversized, was a key element of the MST3K live tour a couple years ago (The Watch Out For Snakes tour)
Stephen Colbert pulled it on Lourde on his trip to New Zealand… I guess you just need to find a younger and culturally more remote audience who hasn’t heard of it yet
